This is heartbreaking and becoming all too common. Another reminder how the approach to forestry to prevent forest fires and their wild spread has been abandoned and changed over time, leaving nature exposed to these blazes in a much bigger way.

This is just so poignantly and thoughtfully written, and meticulously researched. Not a happy read but important. I shared it with my friend who does fire mitigation education. Xoxo

Sister, thank you for sharing this tragic, unfortunate, and very close to my own home story. If the fire that day, had been blowing in the opposite direction, my home would have been one of the first neighborhoods to go. While I was a lucky one this time, my thoughts continue on everyday about when this might not be the case should Lower Bidwell Park (in the same condition) ignite. My heart hurts, just as yours does, for our naturally gorgeous hometown! My best friend lost his home in this fire and the emotions he hurdles, I feel for him too. This should never become our new normal, but sadly I have to agree with you this is where we are headed. When you share such informative pieces such as this one, you help bring deeper understanding of the natural consequences we ALL pay when we don’t care for/respect our world around us. Keep sharing your heart for our home, as I believe knowledge/education is the key to profound change!!
